Connection timed out Install errors?

I've recently just gotten these errors on my website while using v1.4.10 (a week or 2 ago). So i tried updating to v1.4.11 and i'm still getting these two errors after i input my hostname, user/pass, etc. while in the installer.

Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): Connection timed out in /usr/www/***/public_html/sourcebans/includes/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysqli.inc.php on line 113

Fatal error: mysqli error: [2002: Connection timed out] in CONNECT(***.com, '****', '****', ****_sourcebans) in /usr/www/****/public_html/sourcebans/includes/adodb/adodb-errorhandler.inc.php on line 77

Your MySQL Server is not reachable

Thanks for the reply, got it working.

Had to switch to localhost

Now i get this in the error logs

[sourcebans.smx] Database failure: [2002]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock'

Use the IP instead of the DNS name
