I'm switching game server rentals and theres some advertising for 100 tick for tf2 ( at no additional charge ).
But i'm wondering can tf2 really do 100 tick and would I really see a difference compared to 66?


Or would I really see a difference in a higher fps game server?
one that offers like 550 fps.

Any help would be apprecaited, sorry if its been asked before.

TF2 does not support 100 tick. The FPS wouldn't really make much difference on TF2 either.

Most people don't think this is true but I know first hand this is in fact the truth

Some of the GSP's like to play on the fact that people don't know TF2 cannot do 100 Tick. They sell you a 100 Tick server and it’s really only 66 tick. If anyone pays for 100 Tick TF2 they are getting ripped off point blank.

Isn't that false advertisement==illegal==anyone who buys it could sue them?

Oh and don't bother going for 30 tick either, TF2 can only ever do around 66 tick I think.
Though, having at least 500fps makes for much smoother gameplay than 256.

really? ive tried tf2 servers at 100 fps, 300 fps, 500 fps, and 1000fps... and I can tell no difference between either of em.

I suppose it's more noticeable with a higher ping.

What the higher fps basically does it give it a higher response time, so essentially lower ping. Not to mention, a higher fps helps a lot with people who have high pings, it helps make it not as noticeable.

I don't even boost my fps as in I run no fps boost software. Over a year now and not one person has said anything to me about it. I have full servers all the time everything works great.

You can run TF2 at 33 tick and 66 tick, I've used both.

Have you or have you set both? When the GSPs say 100 tick they usually also mean 500fps or high fps than their 66 tick servers.

I've setup TF2 servers running at 33 tick and 66 tick on our dedicated server. If that is what you meant....

I don't see how GSPs can say 100 tick when TF2 doesn't support it and their justification is they run it at a higher FPS....
