I have an 8 man l4d server that only utilizes 4 slots for co-op. I want to be able to reserve slots for an admin to come in whenever they want.

I tried using the reserve function in sm like I have on my CSS servers, but it ended up allowing 13 people in, crashing the server, and causing my host to temporarily cancel my server.

Has anyone tried this yet for l4d?

I can't get people to join in reserved slots at all. I manually set the maxvisibleplayers to 9, but the person testing got some error message.

What plugins and configs were you using? Crashing is a step forward for me!

I was just changing the sm_reserves in the main sourcemod.cfg file.

The whole slot system in L4D is a little screwy.

The reserved slots plugin would have to be modified to work properly with L4D.

I've tried many option and my guess is that the extra slot are reserved by the game (for mobs i guess since they are listed in slay list). I guess we have to wait for the cbaseserver extensions, i think that's the only one who be able to kick a player and let you use a reserved slot.

That doesn't really surprise me. Both slot plugins modify sv_visible_maxplayers or w/e the CVAR is.

We need to hook into whatever L4D uses to modify the slot numbers.

I hope something comes out soon, but for now I've just made my server Steam Group only. Putting this thread on subscribe in case something new comes around.
