I've had this problem for quite some time and haven't managed to fix it, My amx_ban line doesnt work at all, and when i tryed using advance bans (http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=80858) It doesnt work. The only way of me banning someone is by banning them without powers which is annoying, because i had to switch all my heroes to have alot of hp so they wouldnt be killed by aimbotters, and hackers.

So thanks to vittu helping me finding the problem, i get this:
amx_ban writes as STEAM_ID_PENDING and so does banid... I'm running a normal rented (not non-steam) linux hlds server with protocol 48.

Just kick anyone with STEAM_ID_PENDING. That ID should be temporary anyway and the next time they connect...they should be able to get their normal SteamID unless the Steam servers are down or something.

No, unfortunately everyone who join's whether there kicked or not there it won't say there steam id. thanks for trying though

I kick anyone who hasn't gotten a SteamID by the time client_putinserver gets called. Works fine for me, but I also don't notice many people with the STEAM_ID_PENDING issue.

problem is they all have steamid's... it's only when banid/writeid is done that it writes the steamid as STEAM_ID_PENDING

ie. so when you amx_ban "STEAM_0:1:11111" the command will register the proper person, but once banid/writeid completes banned.cfg will only add "banid 0.0 STEAM_ID_PENDING" to it, nothing else no matter what you try.


I told him to have the host manually update his server, cause I have no idea what would cause this.
