Fakemeta is fine to use it's not a no no and in fact you can do things with it that you are not able to with engine.

Completely agreed. Let's not get an "Engine high" going.

Its really weird to us, those who are pretty "new" here, to use engine, whereas we have used fakemeta always. I must admit that I've never coded in engine, just seen some old plugins in fakemeta. I've ever noticed that thing from many scripters that forced us to use fakemeta since it was "better" though

All this years everybody (Except Hawk) thought that fakemeta way was faster
Except me too
I just had to use fakemeta 'cause everybody said "use fm instead of engine", "omg, fun and fakemeta?!".

Very nice topic anyway, good job.

Yon didn't see my conclusion... I said that just for fun, I didn't meant it seriously ...
Edit:Today or tomorror I will do some updates to this tutorial ;).
Edit2: Updated it! Waiting for opinions .

This might be what originated the "fakemeta-conversion" trend:

Plugin writers should study the power offered by FakeMeta once it is released and work to convert their plugins, as it will offer optimization in code, better looking source, and faster development time.

Yeah but with this tutorial the trend is over. . Now people will think what to use before making a plugin.

FM has the good forwards and the pev functions are good, the stocks that fakemeta util provide are useless when other modules offer such functions ...
