Vice is a command line tool that will decrypt and encrypt .ctx files. CTX files are encrypted text files that have weapon and player class settings that can be modified. Items like, health, speed, ammo, allowed weapons, etc...

The attach file has vice.exe and 2 batch files with an encrypt already configured in the batch file. Valve will encrypt certain CTX files with different passwords so you will need to confirm a correct decrypt before encrypting and using the file.

Current TF2 Encrypt Keys
E2NcUkG2 - everything else
A5fSXbf7 - tf\scripts\items

Zombie Panic - 6cTCLD1K

1) Extract all 3 files in the directory with your ctx files.
2) Run decrypt.bat to decrypt all the ctx files in that directory to .txt files
3) Modify the txt files to fit your needs
4) Run encrypt.bat to encrypt the files back to ctx files

The server has to be restarted from scratch before the settings will take effect.

Did they happen to change the Encryption keys on July 1?
I decrypted the latest .ctx files for Flamethrower, Flaregun and Pyro and ended up with a bunch of junk.

Sometimes it bugs out, and instead of making a new .txt file decrypted, the decrypted contents are in the .ctx. The vice.exe can be funny with things sometimes. A fix for me if it gets buggy is to change the file name and try again.

I know this shit is 7 years old (and just got necro'd), but I still want to ask anyway... where do the newly compiled ctx files go to? /tf/custom/<folder>/....?

It should output the files to the same folder the .bat is in.
