I like this question cause mine is my house, I do have cable and my max up is 900, down is like 8000-10000
I found some calculation in steam forum here

I do get a little laggy at times, but I have a 24 person server and 20 levels of heros, also 92 plugins running

If you have better advice jtp, I would like to hear it as well, always looking to be more stable

900 kb up???? damn thats fast, thats like 112KBps

You sure its that fast? You must be in canada or something where thier internet doesn't suck. Pretty rare for that kind of upload in the US

Anyway.... 24 players needs a good amount of ram, esp with shero. If you have less than 512kb of ram that could be the source of the lag. When the server has to use swap space instead of ram it slows it down a lot.

yea, here in NY we have a real kick ass cable company, anytime I do like a bandwidth speed test, it is off the charts

plus I have a gig of ram so I do ok
