Hi, I'm currently starting a JAVA course. To help me learn it, I want to create a log analyser for the Natural Selection game.

So I may have questions here and there about the synthax of the log to understand what they mean. Should I keep posting here or have new threads everytimes ?

As example taken from a log (version "47/1.1.2.0/2834"):
L 01/21/2005 - 19:02:00: "xxxxxxx<3><STEAM_xxxxxx><marine1team>" changed role to "soldier"

What does the 'L' stand for ?

What does the number after the player name (in this case <3>) mean ?

By "changed role to", I assume it means the player respawned ?

Is there a document somewhere that will give me a quick synthax of all NS log items ?

I'd recommend keeping all your related log questions within this one thread.

I think it stands for "Log". Kind of pointless for it to be in the log file, as far as I'm concerned.

That's the user id of the player. From the time your server starts until it's reset, every player to your server gets a user id that is incremented by 1 from the previous user's. If you were to join your server twice, you'd get a new user id the second time.

I believe that just means the player changed their class.
