So, Visual Studio Community 2013 came out today. It seems to be the Standard version of Visual Studio 2013 Update 4. This seems to be the replacement for the Visual Studio Express editions.

Not sure if this is useful to anyone else, but I know Visual Studio 2013 is mandatory if you want to compile SourceMod 1.7 (but this is off topic on the SM General board).

Makes me wonder how hard it would be to write an AMXX or SourceMod parser for it. Extensions couldn't be used on the old free version of VS (although the standalone shell could be used for that).

Visual Studio 2015 Hopefully VALVE will be Writing Half Life 3 with that Code developing Platform.

It's not replacing Express and has some limitations that Express does not have, such as not being able to be used in a large company or team. Other than that, it's more comparable to VS Pro rather then Standard.

Microsoft is thinking about retiring the Express edition, but they haven't decided yet.
