Reply With Quote #1

We run a rented dedi server which we have SSH access to and are trying to run MM for our dod:s and dod:c servers

I have tried all the different ways of setting gameinfo.txt listed on here like adding trailing slashes and periods but net result is the server wont start when the gamebin line is in there or will start but without metamod.

The server returns the following error:

Quote:
Could not get IServerGameDLL interface from library server_i486.soFailed to load server binary
Can't start game, no valid server.dll loaded
Using the newest MM

Running /lib/libc.so.6 gets us:

Any ideas, I have searched thru this forum but this error message seems to relate to plugins not to mm itself, we arent loading any plugins but do have standalone mani running (V1.1.0zh) but still get the same error with mani disabled.

Did you overwrite dods/bin/server_i486.so with metamod's server_i486.so? Or did you place metamod in addons/bin/metamod?

No its in dod/addons/metamod/bin

Actually discovered my problem, it seems the gameinfo.txt is very fussy about its formatting.

I was editing it on my Windows PC then uploading to server, same with the .so file, when i used vi to edit it on the server and wget to download from sourceforge direct to server it was fine.

Linux, Windows and MacOS all have different ways of terminating lines in text documents, and they generally get goobered up if you transfer them to different operating systems. the best thing to do is edit the config files on the Linux machine itself to not have the problem start in the first place.
