Write a plugin or something and see what "team" they are on. If they are 0 or 1, then no, it wont work. If you'll let me know what the teamnum for HL2DM is, I'll fix it though.

Team Deathmatch:
Rebels = 3
Combine = 2
spectate = 1
Unassigened = 0 (removed since a source update, no teamjoin 0 possible anymore)

Deathmatch:
no teams (players are probably unassigend = 0)
spectate = 1

Compile, upload, and run this plugin, in the console type sm_getteams, and paste me the output.

Make sure to do this on a server running HL2DM while there are players on.

Used your sm_getteams Liam, and it would seem that all hl2dm players are shown as being Team 0 irrespective of them being either Combine or Rebel.
