you can edit the source code with any text editor, and compile it with one of a few good free compilers, or some great non-free compilers, or use an IDE such as VS .net 2003(recommended)

The problem with Dev-C++ is that it uses GCC on windows, which probably won't work with the HL2 engine. Try the freely available Visual Studio Beta:

genesis: The Metamod: Source site does not require lots of dynamic content or large community forums. It's a development project, which we'd like to keep small and easily maintainable. A simple site with lots of content does the trick.

There is a free, command line version of the compiler used in visual studio. If you can track it down, I can give you the command line arguments you need to compile with it.

well I got the command line compiler ( Visual C++ Toolkit 2003) is that the one?

so i would make the code over devC++ and then compile it with this one, right?

can you give me the commands needed to compile my stuff, although right now im still not making my own plugins because i am just at the basics of C++. I learn pretty fast though.

Well AMX is Half Life 1 only. But as for SourceMM that is Metamod for the Source engine. As for AMX supporting SourceMM, you'll have to talk to dJeyL or OLO, or whom ever is over at the AMX forums still working. I don't think it would take to much work to make AMX SourceMM compatible. Really depends on the difference in native functions.

I think that there should be a naming standard. get_user_health($id, $health) should work for not just AMX but for AMX(X) and SourceMod. It would make it easyer to port code.
