Sup,

I was just thinking i wanted to ask some random questions about how certain forum stuffs work and i suppose the off-topic part of the forum is the best place to go.

This is mainly about titles and such on AlliedModders so i suppose it's just gonna be one part but whatever, i guess the question is, how come i see so many people with customized titles. And by that i mean whereas it for me says "Junior Member" considering i joined the website not so long ago but where some people such as a buddy 'ecca' for example has "~lick~", i've never really understood how those worked.

Second how does all the different positions work, and i'm talking about the ones who are forum moderators, plugin approvers/dis-approvers etc.

Hopefully someone who isn't a newbie to these forums like me may give some good explanations so i can stop thinkin' bout it. Cheers

They're just custom user titles that Moderators/[Un]Approvers(Not sure) and Developers can give. There are rank titles such as Junior Member / Senior / Veteran which can be reached by posting. There are also group titles such as Moderator , Approver etc.. which comes with forum privileges and can be given only by Developers. Someone changed my title to this today but I'm not sure who :p

  • People who donate to AlliedModders via PayPal (at least $5 in a single transaction) gain access to the user title "Alliedmodders Donor."
  • Junior/Senior/Veteran ranks are obtainable via post counts.
  • Alliedmodders staff members may have other titles, such as "Developer," "Sourcemod Developer," "AMX Mod X Team," etc.

All all other titles were by a staff member who felt like being silly at the time. If I recall correctly, persons who obtain one of these custom user titles cannot switch away from the title without losing access to them.

Forum staff positions work pretty much exactly how you'd expect them to. People who work to develop Sourcemod will have that title. Etc. Becoming a forum moderator can be accomplished by filing an application at https://bugs.alliedmods.net, and having two existing staff members vouch for you.

Moderators call them Ranks. Basically you should have the certain amount of post to rank up. Most of forums have the option for changing the Status(what it's named), but it could be silly to see 10k peeps with their own status.

More like can't switch away from them at all. My choices for group memberships is Registered Users ("Veteran Member" title) or AlliedModders Donor ("AlliedModders Donor" title).

You are unable to select either of them?

Correct. Your application is submitted through the bugs database. Sounds odd, but it's actually the most appropriate medium that they have here.

You don't have to send an actual bug report. Just write your application and send it with bugzilla.
