Update (8/21/2012): Valve has released a TF2 update that fixes these core issues: http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=8696. You no longer need this extension.

This is a simple extension to block the precache of MvM sounds in TF2.

This fixes the following issues that were introduced in the MvM update:
  • Server exiting due to string table overflows: (Host_Error: Overflow error writing string table baseline ServerMapCycleMvM, and related)
  • Clients getting stuck on "retrieving server info" (Netchannel: failed reading message net_SetConVar from xx.xx.xx.xx:27015)
  • Server exits due to soundprecache table being full (Warning: Table soundprecache is full, can't add vo\taunts\scout_taunts18.wav)

Old version:

Source
Binary (.rar) | Binary (.zip)

New version (which blocks precache of mvm particles):
Source
Windows Binary
For the linux binary, grab the one located in this post.

Big thanks for psychonic for the linux build.

Thanks for fixing the overflow errors faster than Valve, cheers!

Also, would this cause any confliction with this plugin?

If a player were to use this command, they would play the MVM sounds.

It would most likely conflict, yes, as this extension blocks the precache of all mvm related sounds.

How do I install this? Do the files go into the "bin" folder?
