I'm looking into to buying a new processor i have a amd sempron 3400+ 2.0 ghz.

If i switched to intel would i have to buy a new mobo ?

If i do what other single core amd processors do you sujest that are over 3.0 ghz

Yes you would most likely need a new motherboard.

If you dont want to get a new motherboard, I highly suggest dual core.

Yes when you switch from AMD to Intel you HAVE to switch Mother boards, I havn't seen a Mobo that is compatible with both.

newegg.com is a great place to compare and buy computer parts. I got my whole pewter from newegg.

Intel has a different socket than AMD, you need different mobo's for each.

My bro bought the Intel Core2 Duo E6600 2.4gHz/1066mHz/4mb. It's pretty extreme... I would greatly recommend it...
he did some test at shockplay.com ( no serius test ) and got at #1 with 321 points... ( even though he has radeon 9250... )
i did the same test my only difference from his computer is the processor and mobo P4 3.0gHz/800mHz/2mb and i got half of his score...

Yeah I've got the E6300 and it is fast as balls. E6600 has to be amazing, but also costs about 2 times more.
