Please help me with my errors. I'm new to coding and my first plugin ever isn't compiling. All its giving me is

firstplugin.sp<0>: fatal error 182: cannot read from file: "firstplugin.sp"

its name is firstplugin.sp and i made it in notepad from a tutorial
i have no idea what i'm doing

  1. You posted in the wrong section (this section is for AMX Mod X, you'll want to post in the SourceMod section).
  2. When you do post, make sure to attach your .sp file (nobody can really help you without it).

I have never compiled a plugin under sourcepawn, but from common sense I would say your file is somewhere else. The .sma files need to be next to the compiler executable

Like everyone said you have insufficient information to allow us to assist you. Answer the following 3 questions:

1. Where is spcomp located?
2. Where is firstplugin.sp located?
3. How are you starting up/invoking spcomp?

You can try dragging the sp file to spcomp and then when its done working and everything compiles correctly, then it will place an smx file in the same folder. Otherwise, you'll have to use the command prompt to see why it's not compiling.
