To be honest Glittermod 1.0.8 doesnt work smooth we removed it yesterday. It was blocking the weapons for the wrong team every time

Thx for checking as well. So it's a combination between glittermod and esp on a windows and a linux server.

Mani says he's gonna be re-working his weapon ban system soon, maybe this'll prompt him to push it to one of his higher priorities ;). Though per-team weapon restrict like glittermod is possible w/ mani

Though I combined the 3 into one alias in the restricted_weapons.txt file to look like this

awp magnum g3sg1 d3au1 sg550 krieg550 snipers //Snipers

and did
ma_restrict snipers 2 in my mani_server.cfg

so now I have any combination of awp auto with a max of 2 per team so it's 2 awps 0 autos per team, 1 awp 1 auto per team or 0 awps 2 autos per team. It seems to work well (I need more thorough testing, but I think it works alright)

Just curious, given what happened with x-spectate: Understanding this is a different type of tool, however still provides (even when it's spec-only), a wallhack, what are the odds at somepoint this is considered illegal on secure servers?

Well, it's for admins only, so I doubt that will happen.

how would it? as it doesn't affect the client in any way (as far as I know) all it does is spawn server side entities based on player position. (The beam effects.)

There really is no grounds in which this plugin (in it's current state) can actually be considered a hack as it only utilizes aspects of the game that are already there in a conventional method which can't even be displayed while alive.

Whom would VAC ban anyway? The IP of the server? Well that's no good, they'd be out a lot of GSP's who provide servers of their games, and then out a lot of customers whom only play on certain servers (aka regulars), most migrate, but what if VAC bans them for playing on a server with this enabled?

Honestly, there's no grounds for this plugin to be a VAC bannable offense, though, there's no grounds for x-fire being a vac-bannable offense, but it happens anyway...

X-Spectate was a clientside "wallhack" that hooks in the game like any other cheats do.
You was able to use this on a server too, so valve said that it's a cheat (correct!).

NOBODY got banned for using the old Admin Spectator ESP for hl1!!!

This plugin can't be used as a cheat.
Only dead admins can see these effects.

Ok, you can tell other admins the positions of the players over TS.
But if mp_forcecamera is set to 0 then you can see the other players anyway.
You can set esp_spec_only to 1 (default) so only real spectator can see the effects.

Admins can "cheat" on there servers if they want.
They can give health, cash, weapons anonymously with Mani Admin Plugin, Eventscript, ...

So what will vac do with these plugins?
Nothing! Becouse that are serverside plugins and vac is clientside only!

I wasn't suggesting it should be banned, I was just curious as to the point of view on the differences between the two cases. I realize it's a different kettle of fish, but technically it wouldn't be hard to use this to give yourself an advantage (i.e. in combination with vent/teamspeak, or running on a parallel setup). Of course any unscrupulous admin has an advantage anyway so I guess the argument is moot.
