Hi All,

EDIT: Please read latest posts instead of this crap, thanks

I've been using a GameServers hosted server (I know, not the best) running SM since about August. Every time CS:GO updates, I have to go into GameServers and run the update command. Not a big deal. When the update was done, everything was fine.

But starting about a month or two ago, every time I run the update one of the values in my deathmatch config reverts to its original value. This started in ~January or February when an update changed a LOT of my config values (noticed I couldn't throw grenades in DM, our logo on the welcome screen was gone, my warmup and round times were reset, etc). And so every week after the update I have manually set this field (mp_allow_buy_grenades) in the DM config to 1.

Every time CS:GO updates and I run the update, it goes back to 0... other files don't revert, just the DM config... it's so annoying! Wondering if anyone else got this, or if I should maybe change server hosts? I logged a support ticket with them and they basically said "yeah, updates can do that" to which I replied, "for four months they never did!".

So strange...

What exactly do you mean by "deathmatch config"? A config file for a particular deathmatch plugin? You should at least specify which one.

gamemode_casual_server.cfg

gamemode_competitive_server.cfg

you need copy and rename cfg file

examples:
gamemode_casual.cfg

gamemode_casual_server.cfg
just change _server.cfg

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I'm stuck. I understand now that the files I was changing were overwritten, but..

Where do these go?
I tried csgo/csgo/cfg but my server crashes on start.

In the server log it shows the following over and over (with no one on the server):

PHP Code:
*** Tried to load a non-VTF file as a VTF file!
Error reading material "materials/models/weapons/customization/stickers/default/sticker_default.vtf"
Any help appreciated, thank you.

those things are not related, refer to link posted earlier if your stuck figuring where .cfg files go. install plugins correctly to avoid the errors.

Ahh, it was a problem directly related to Gameservers. Something of theirs was down.

Thank you! By the way. If anyone knows any good CS:GO community server providers/hosts, please let me know, I need a new one.
