Hello,

I'm trying to build a gaming PC that will blow all my troubles away,

Currently i have a shit of a PC that can barely run CS and im sick of it!

Now i would build a PC myself but the problem is, i have no knowledge on how to build one , that's why im here, i know there are other places where i can get help , but since this is a site for games/gamers, and ive seen many people here who are really good with PC's.

1700$ - 1900$ is my limit.

Also, i have another question,

With the extra money i have, should i get a 3D monitor? is it worth it?

thanks!

This forum is not a good place to ask for new pc builds.

Check this site: http://www.tomshardware.com/us/
If you don't want to spend a lot of time reading reviews and choosing parts yourself, then fill this template: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...3-build-advice
and post it here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/forum-13-322.html

Corsair XMS3 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 RAM ($48
Video Card

Sound Card
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer ($90)
Hard Drive
Western Digital Caviar Black 500 GB ($55)
DVD Burner
Asus DRW-24B1ST DVD Burner ($20)
Case
Cooler Master HAF 922M ATX Mid Tower Case ($90)
Power Supply
Cooler Master GX Series 650W ($95)

Mouse
Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse $43 or

Logitech Gaming Mouse G500 $69

Keyboard
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard $85 or

Instead of a AMD HD5850 buy HD6850. It doesn't cost much more and it is so much more worth.

In my opinion that's not gaming pc worth $1700 ...
Mouse, keyboard, speakers, sound card - waste of money. I would go with default mouse/keyboard, Intel HD Audio (integrated on every motherboard) and good headphones. You can get some fancy (useless?) stuff if you really want, but instead you can get a lot more fps in games if you invest more in graphic card.

Your statement will be correct if you change 6850 to 6870.

For $1700 gaming pc I would recommend this:
Video Card

Radeon 6950 ~$300
or
2x Radeon 6850 CF ~$370 ( 5850 vs 2x6850 CF )

CPU
If you wait till March/April (until Intel fixes hardware bug in chipsets on motherboards) you can get Intel's Sandy Bridge i5 2400 or i5 2500 (better performance) for about as much as i5 750.

I don't think i can wait that long, I'm dying to play me some games as its been almost a year since i last played one (in a decent performance that is). lol, can you recommend me another video card maybe? that hasn't got any issues.

EDIT: oh, and the PC set that ive listed isn't worth 1700$. that's just my limit in paying.

Even if you want to buy it fast, it's really worth it to wait another month or 2 and get ~20% more CPU performance. i5 2500k vs i5 750

What's wrong with those video cards?
