This is not directed only towards you DaW, but:

Have you guys tried researching this stuff before asking questions on a forum not even related to computer hardware? Seriously, there's tons of info on computer software and hardware all over the 'net. If you decide to replace/upgrade a computer component, read up on what requirements you should have, and how you should go about it.

Can you disable your onboard video in your BIOS?
Do you have the required slots for a video card?
If you opened up your computer case, could you identify most of what's in it?

If you answered no to at least one of those, then you have some reading to do.

lets just say u can't play hl1mod unless if u have agp higher so if u have pci u can't play unless if ur card amazing like mine nvida 5500 256mb that might work for ya but i recomende agp or pci exp

I'm not even going to point out the irony in this post. Go away.

Almost any modern card will get you over 100 fps in Half-Life these days. You could get a 7600GT or a 7800GT if you want to stay in the $200-300 price range. Keep in mind that DirectX 10 is right around the corner though, so you could possibly just be wasting money on technology that will be obselete in a few months.
