I was wondering if this a false positive? The guy keeps saying he didn't do anything. The game is l4d2. Can players get banned for changing sv_consistency in console?

Code:
L 06/17/2015 - 23:22:40: [smac_cvars.smx | 0.8.5.0] REMOVED (ID: REMOVED | IP: REMOVED) has convar "sv_consistency" set to value "0" (should be "1") when it should equal.
	Map: c2m1_highway | Origin: 11132 8075 -525 | Angles: 35 -111 0 | Weapon: weapon_shotgun_chrome | Team: 2 | Latency: 52ms

L 06/14/2015 - 21:03:33: [smac_cvars.smx | 0.8.5.0] REMOVED (ID: REMOVED | IP: REMOVED) has convar "sv_consistency" set to value "0" (should be "1") when it should equal.

Speedhack?

Any cvar report is always true.
The speedhack happens even to me, so that's up to you what to do.

I'm almost ready to disable the speedhack module, because I get nothing but false positives from it. I've had several people in my server get tagged for speedhack when clearly none of them are. One of them was actually one of my friends whom I was spectating at the time as well, hah.

The speedhack module actually prevents speedhacks from working and that's it's main purpose, just ignore the reports or even edit it to not log anything if it bothers you

Ahh, I had no idea, thank you! Looks like I'm keeping it then. I assumed it only detected, not prevented, hence "<user> is suspected of using speedhack" is in the log.

Basically, it slows down clients slowly once they start speedhacking because the engine detects that they're moving quicker than intended. There's a lot more to it technical-wise but that's laments terms.

Although its not needed unless you have set the following cvars:

sm_cvar sv_maxusrcmdprocessticks 0 (defaults 16)
sm_cvar sv_max_usercmd_future_ticks 0 (defaults

If you have not changed the above cvars, then the game engine will automatically block speedhackers.

TF2
Code:
"sv_maxusrcmdprocessticks" = "24"
          game notify
          - Maximum number of client-issued usrcmd ticks that can be replayed in packet loss conditions, 0 to allow no restrictions
