Actually CS:GO have more players than CS 1.6, and yes CS:GO will become more than CS 1.6 in few years ... ofc if not the new Counter-Strike coming next year

CS:GO — not "Counter-Strike" at all. I'm feel sorry that it is a new part of Counter-Strike.
VALVe did nothing useful after CS 1.6 Release.

Look at this fails:
Making CS:Condition Zero. Same CS 1.6 with new resources (models, sounds, sprites, etc.).
Making CS:Source. Same CS 1.6 on new Engine.
On this step they take thought: "CS clones does not work! Let's create next CS, but remake all things that we want! ".

And we have Call of... Battlefi... damn, we have Counter-Strike: Global Offensive .

Source is a dated engine too... after all, its first game (Half-Life 2) came out 10 years ago.

It will be interesting to see if Valve ports any Source games to Source 2, though. After all, they were already showing L4D2 maps ported to it...

Actually, people like to complain that Team Fortress 2 is "too different" from Quake Team Fortress and Team Fortress Classic, particularly because it tends to have a slower pace (you can't conc/grenade jump in TF2 after all).

It's actually amusing if you read the Fortress Forever forum too, where they've spent time arguing that Spy needs some sort of movement boost other than grenade jumping. Because being able to throw grenades while staying disguised and being able to one hit kill other players via melee from behind isn't powerful enough already. One suggestion was a grapple hook...
