Any help?
Make sure the file is executable.

I do this, cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/ and then ./srcds_run -game garrysmod +map gm_construct -maxplayers 4 +log on

but this happens:
Failed to find symbols for dedicated.dylib
Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help with solving this problem
Mon Nov 2 17:06:13 EST 2015: Server restart in 10 seconds

and then when I add -debug:
WARNING: Please install gdb first.
goto http://www.gnu.org/software/gdb/
Server will auto-restart if there is a crash.
Failed to find symbols for dedicated.dylib
Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help with solving this problem

I dont want to get GDB, so is there any way around this?

Sorry for any inconvenience provided by bumping a 2011 post

You have to have GDB in order to debug. Otherwise it is very hard to figure what is the cause of the problem.

Did you try to compile the project under your OSX environment? Games have had updates, and a local compile might be able to fix it.

Hi, I'm also getting the

error. Has anyone found a way to fix this?

I've been trying to set up an Insurgency Sever on my Mac.
I added -debug, and tried to download gdb. I can't download gdb because for that, you need to download Homebrew. I tried downloading home-brew, that doesn't work either.

Any luck? I would love to run a Insurgency server again

First of all, thank you for putting this guide together. It has been extremely helpful in helping to get a dedicated server setup. When most things are geared towards Windows, I'm glad someone who has the knowledge to make this sort of thing happen is willing to share it.

I have been able to get a dedicated Insurgency server running, but it is running in Windows. My goal has been to get it working on an iMac running El Capitan. And despite this guide, I've still been unsuccessful.

The latest hurdle I've hit is getting the following error:
#System (VMaterialSystem080) failed during stage

Here's what I am running and the full output (hostname and username changed from original):
<hostname>:InsurgencyDS <user>$ ./srcds_run -game insurgency -steamcmd_script /Volumes/Storage/InsurgencyDS/insurgency/cfg/server.cfg -ip 0.0.0.0 -port 27016
WARNING: No map specified! Defaulting to market

Server will auto-restart if there is a crash.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/Volumes/Storage/InsurgencyDS/binnull)
2016-01-22 11:430.678 srcds_osx[40320:1482886] 11:430.677 WARNING: 140: This application, or a library it uses, is using the deprecated Carbon Component Manager for hosting Audio Units. Support for this will be removed in a future release. Also, this makes the host incompatible with version 3 audio units. Please transition to the API's in AudioComponent.h.
#System (VMaterialSystem080) failed during stage CONNECTION
Fri Jan 22 11:430 EST 2016: Server Quit

If anyone can assist with this I would greatly appreciate it. I'd rather not have to continue to run the dedicated server on Windows, because... well, it's Windows. Great for games, not great for servers

Hi.

Got the CS:S server running perfectly, thank you!

But, I've got a problem with the CS:GO server - I'm getting this error:

Failed to find symbols for launcher.dylib

What have I done wrong? Also, can't seem to get steamcmd to work properly. Got an error saying "Invalid Platform" o_O
