So now that this function is deprecated, is there any other way to determine how long a sound file is?

Yes, write an extension with a native function that can determine the length of mp3s and wavs.

Don't know the source engine well enough to be coding extensions though.

"Deprecated," not "depreciated." Source's implementation is either unimplemented or plain broken (sometimes it just crashes). If you were to right you're own you're best off using some other library, rather than going through wav/mp3 headers.

I'll try to think of some way to get around this, im trying to make a sound list that will loop through each sound one after another, but I'm having trouble finding a way to know when the sound is done playing.
