i started a minecraft server it's honestly just a vanilla survival server for me and my friend i have 8gb of ram and i allocated 4GB just for the server maybe that's a bit too much just for 2 players? but i want things to run smoothly anyway

so what i wanna know is, is there anything else i should change or any plugins to install to make the server run more smoothly and without any lag at all? i don't wanna install any mods that CHANGE THE GAME i want it mostly vanilla however i don't mind datapacks

i used to run a Counter Strike 1.6 server back in the day and there were scripts for it like "AMX MOD X" and i wonder if there is anything like that for minecraft servers?

i read something about fabric servers? but I'm omeglz not sure what that is

Using Spigot or Bukkit is one option to run that you mean (scripts). Other option is Mohist, which works for run Forge mods and Spigot plugins at the same time in your server.

If you wanna optimize but let your server be more vanilla, i recommend you to use Spigot and just install plugins like ClearLagg or a TPS optimization plugin.
