In TF2, there is a mini profile pic next to each player on the scoreboard. Is there a way to use this as a sprite?

Scoreboard is all clientside so I'm afraid not.

concept:
1. send client steamid to a webpage
2. the page converts it to communityid then fetches the profile pic of the user
3. the page passes the pic to a vtf converter
4. the converted vtf gets uploaded to the server
5. now you can use it as a sprite

what about faking the converted material as a spray, so it would get downloaded to the clients on-the-fly
