CA is more expensive though (atleast San Diego, LA, and San Francisco)
But CA has earthquakes.
So no matter where you go in the united states you have some kind of natural disaster/occurance of somesort:
South Eastern: Hurricanes
North: Cold Winters
Western: Earthquakes
Mid-Western: Tornado Alley?
Between Mid-West and West: Dessert/Nothing (depending on how var north you go)
West Virginia thru Tennesee: Nice country livin' (Hickville. No offense)

So you basically have to pick what you want to deal with. I live in florida(not by choice) and I know I'm getting outta here soon.

Is that really such a big problem? You can stay indoors on computer (or go out wrestle with polar bears like here in Finland).

I've yet to hear of a cold winter being classified as a natural disaster. Poor people living in the North, they have to live through a natural disaster each and every year.

WTF do you mean CA has earthquakes, 3 things:

1. San Diego, hasn't had a major earthquake in over my life span.
2. Earthquakes are NOWHERE near as bad as hurricanes
3. The last major disaster in San Diego was the wild fires of 2003. That doesn't count though since it was man made and wasn't "natural".

Almsot exactly what I was gonna say. Only downside about CA is houses are expensive, we got great weather, no realy natural disasters except maybe a small earthquake every 50 years.
