That's a directory, not an error log, but in there I have a "errors_20090111.log", which has no errors related to the advertisements. I also have a "L20090111.log" which has no errors related to the advertisements.

If it's not listed in sm plugins list, then advertisements.smx is not in the plugins folder...

It IS in the plugins folder, along with all the plugins that are listed by the "sm plugins list" command.

I feel kinda silly.

I uploaded everything to the right folders, but on the wrong servers! I run four L4D servers and I was uploading it to one and trying it on another.

I have a number of queries regarding this plugin which I'd be grateful for help with. I apologise for not taking the time to read the whole thread but at 36 pages that's a lot of time without any guarantee of relevant information!

I have uploaded it to my Left 4 Dead server and, to a limited extent, it is working. Here is the contents of my advertisements.txt file

1) The plugin is only writing the first statement, not all nine
2) That line is in the usual gold/orange rather than the specified green.
3) The in game console doesn't seem to recognise the commands listed in the first post. (I have full admin rights in SourceMod) They are recognised when into HLSWs console. However, when I specified via HLSW for the duration to be 10 seconds while I tested the plugin, this has failed to be changed in practice.

In which area? I haven't seen them work in any. I use hint messages which are static.
