We've been using Metamod on our server for a long time now and recently decided to reconfigure the server to default and start from scratch to get rid of unnecessary models/maps/sounds.

Once we completely reinstalled our server, the new CS update came out. We had issues with getting it to update correctly. Finally it is working...but metamod wont install. I've installed it dozens of times in the past and it is extremely simple. I put the addons folder in cstrike and the metamod.vdf in the addons folder. Restart the server and when I type in meta, mm, or meta version it says unknown command. I've tried troubleshooting for an hour now and still can't find a solution. Any suggestions?

The path to addons was:
[srcds]/orangebox/cstrike/addons

The new one is:
[srcds]/css/cstrike/addons

All the Metamod stuff goes in the new path. If you are still using cstrike under orangebox, it won't work. Other than that, all should be the same.

We use a server host and connect to the servers through filezilla

Our cstrike folder is located in

/service92/css/css/cstrike

and our addons folder is

/service92/css/css/cstrike/addons

Can those paths work? If not what needs to be changed in order for it to work? Also, is it possible to edit a metamod file to point to that directory?

Yeah, those should work - usually the paths in the VDF files are relative.

It looks like the first css dirctory is your [srcds] directory, here is what I have for Metamod 1.8.7:

>The .../css/cstrike/addons directory should have:
metamod directory
metamod.vdf
>The .../metamod directory should have:
README.txt
bin directory
metaplugins.ini (not usually used anymore)
>The .../bin directory should have (for Linux):
five metamod.*.so files
server.so
server_i386.so
>The .../bin directory should have (for Windows):
eight metamod.*.dll
server.dll

The metamod.vdf file should contain (either Windoze or Linux):
"Plugin"
{
"file" "../cstrike/addons/metamod/bin/server"
}

Now, you DO have to restart the server for the new Valve plug-in to be recognized. If all is well. you should get meaningful responses to "meta version" and "meta list" in the server console.

Also try "pluginprint" in the server console - it should show that MetaMod is present.

If you did all this and it still doesn't work, double check the owners and permissions of the files and directories - this is for Linux, it may have an effect on Windows, too.

I also recommend starting the server with console logs enabled. Then look for console.log in the cstrike directory:

./srcds_run -console -condebug -game cstrike -port 27015 +maxplayers 12 -pidfile css.pid +map de_dust

This worked, I changed the metamod.vdf to point to /service92/css/css/cstrike/addons/metamod/bin/server and it worked

After creating the symbolic links it seems that the dependendy of ibvstdlib.so is fixed.

Don't symlink those, it causes as many (or more) problems than it "fixes" and ends up masking the real problem.

I'd double-check that you're actually overwriting MM:S's files. This is from a fresh install of MM:S 1.10 hg817 on my test server machine:

Thank you, but my Instance doesn't run after a reinstall.

However a downgrade to 1.9.2 was executable.
