That Australia joke makes no sense. If you move to the Arctic circle however, then at a point in the year you will have sunlight for several weeks straight! But these vampires are tricky, see, they hide inside the wall outlet. You could try and poke them with a metal stick, but I don't see that ending too well for you... =P

It might not be strictly accurate, though, you're right.
I mean they probably call it "daytime" when it's light over there, even though we on the right side of the world know it's really night.

I agree with that metal stick + poking idea.
Probably not very safe though; make sure to douse yourself in holy water before trying anything like that.
Might want to throw a bit on the socket too, just to be sure.
