Exactly, in the case of this forum I agree that LESS IS MORE.
less sections to create lazy posts, less of a chance new users get lost in the forum, less of a chance moderators only get to come here to clean up rather than contribute. Less work.

Despite this board being named General, talk that is not about SourceMod will get moved to the AMXModX Off Topic board.

In other words, this board (SourceMod General) is the support board, as it is about General SourceMod talk.

^ This has been the long standing practical use of the forum.

i think srcds general and sm general just need a sticky titled "READ BEFORE POSTING" so the user will know where to go. it will have all the rules plus a some sort of form so we won't need to post stuff like "wrong section" or "sm plugins list output pls..", but just link them to the sticky maybe even make a short presentation of the sections when a new user registers?

Kjaer, even though you've given up, your idea was sound, it's just that this board does not use the same terminology that you do.

There is a sticky that does exactly as Ade describes, it's just not named as he woud name it. It is found here: http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=69092

It does not take more than a couple days of surfing on these boards to become accustomed to the protocol. When someone steps out of bounds there's plenty of people that will point that person in the right direction.

To understand these boards, you have to realize that there are 10 groups of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

In other words, this site was created by programmers, for programmers.

I am a programmer by profession (but alas I have not had the time to learn the SourcePawn). When I first came to this site a couple years ago looking for ways to easily admin 8 servers, I found my way around quickly.

I can see your point of view, but programmers are reluctant to make changes to something that is working. It may come from them knowing that making a change produces a 55% chance of breaking something else.
