It keeps saying there is an update and that it has downloaded it, but it's not actually doing that.

Hiya, new here, and to the whole TF2 server owning in general. I have a request that may sound dumb, and hell might even be impossible, but can't hurt to ask. I was wondering if it would be possible to firstly, when you go into friendly mode, it makes the server think your spectating, this way auto balance can be on, and it will keep the people who are actually fighting to a balanced fight, hope this makes sense.

My other request, also not sure if possible, is when you go into friendly mode it will move you to another location. I run a trade server, and the underground is trade area, and my upper field area is combat area. Id like this to move people to the trade area when going friendly, and move them back when going non-friendly.

More or less, I can live without the second request, but I'd absolutely love to have the first one. Thanks.

I have no idea about the auto-balance thing. :\

As for the other thing, you can write your own plugin to teleport the players. My plugin provides several ways for other plugins to interact with it. You can use the TF2Friendly_CanToggleFriendly() forward to tell your custom plugin that the player is toggling Friendly mode. You can also use TF2Friendly_IsFriendly() to have your plugin ask Friendly Mode about the current Friendly status of a player, and there is also TF2Friendly_SetFriendly() to set Friendly mode on players who enter a certain zone.

No idea if it's possible to make people as 'spectators'? And I know nothing about coding really, or making mods/plugins for TF2, so I'm poo out of luck on that second one I guess. :l

This might have been mentioned before, but have you considered using particle effects (circling hearts) to identify friendly players instead of alpha?

I'd much prefer this as well, as I run a trade server and people like to be able to show off their loadouts, or show other potential buyers their stuff in person, but the alpha makes it hard to see, yet going out of it puts them at risk of being trolled and whatnot.

You can allow items and weapons to be visible while only having the character model transparent. While it may not be the best idea it still allows you to show off your items.

If the particle effect is introduced, can you please make it optional?

This is actually one of the oldest suggestions. I've wanted to do this for a long time, but I can't wrap my head around how to do it. I've tried looking at other plugins that add particles, but I don't understand what I am reading when I get to that part... I don't like to copy/paste code without knowing exactly what it's doing, you know?

As Snaggle pointed out, you can make a person in Friendly mode transparent, while keeping their weapons and hats opaque. Take a look at the alpha cvars; there are like 7 of them.

My plugin has 57 cvars. Other than the base functionality of "friendly players can't do damage," everything is always optional.

Haha I know, I just didn't want it to replace the transparent mode if you ever did introduce it
