gzip compression for GoldSrc ?

According to alfred-valve (link bellow) gzip compression is now possible for GoldSrc

Well i tried and i failed.

So i would like to know if it's just me who fail or if it's not working at all.
So please can other people test it ?

Well i used gzip for windows to gzip de_mirage.bsp to de_mirage.bsp.gz
Then delet de_mirage.bsp in the fast download and instead send the gzipped file.
On the regular server FTP there is de_mirage.bsp.

The fast download fail and redirect me to the server for the download who is really long.

with maps/de_mirage.bsp.gz in .res it say :

Invalid file type...skipping download of maps/de_mirage.bsp.gz
