So I'm considering creating an ability where a player can spawn a "ghost" which meanders around the map, and then at some point teleports themselves to the ghost (ghost comes to life sort of thing).

I can probably manage the teleportation stuff, the bit I have no idea about is how to access and use the nav content, and then how to get an entity to follow it... Any help?

Just use an entity already in the game, there should be a few CS:S ones that can follow the nav (hostages are usually popular for that).

hostages need a target to follow, otherwise they stay still, right? also, bots might not work as expected, as they wouldn't just meander without any objective...
maybe you could try to extract data from the nav, or just make your own ai, and make a prop with a ghost model(and animations) move, using a game think for them.

My friend actually released a plugin to read from the nav mesh the other day.
