I apologize for all the delay; with the advertisements plugin I had completely forgotten about this plugin, but the update was ready for some time.
I have recoded this plugin from scratch.
Some major changes are:
It functions properly now.
The flags system has been changed to an overrides system.

Having said that, version 3.0.0 is out!

I'll probably just do a regex which is very broad (but will detect more than urls) and use PCRE_UTF8
EDIT: Of course if you know of any other methods, let me know.
