since this kinda of thing shouldn't be a "special" server feature

The best way to apply the proper knockback is a block damage and count fake damage, like in ZP, because game is change velocity on the apply damage so it quite problematic properly to block that , the best optimized way and which not require heavy hooks and checkers is just to block damage and modify health instead of it
