I mean, like a work-around. Much like what giveweapon has, to prevent certain weapons from crashing servers.

Less of an issue with the tf2items api, I suppose, but would be nice to have the code in there for the rare crash situations.

Why exacly are you needing this?
What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Generally, you can create the basic, stock weapons just fine, and they are viewable.
If you want to modify tats of player weapons, a good approach is to use ongivenameditem..

Are you just trying to gift certain items to players that do not have them?
You can do it, but you have to be very careful, and also, other players wont see the items on the players model...

I think i had some prblems with this in the past... Randomizer//giveweapon can do it... Usually, go look at that, though it will crash the server sometimes as well, so i don't trust it for more than a reference. It is a cool plugin though.

I suggest you stick to generating stocks, or modifying items the player actually has for safety and ease reasons.

It is part of some weapon blocking code I wrote. I am not using tf_wearables anymore, but I came across the crashing problem and thought perhaps it was something worth mentioning.

What it did, was detect a demo primary weapon. Then, if that weapon is not allowed on the server, a different specific weapon would replace it. Obviously I could just leave them with no primary weapon, but I feel it is best to replace it if possible.

Changing properties as needed, is another option that I may need to do.

You could always replace it with a stock, and it will show up.
Worst case scenario generate a nerfed version of the stock if you realy dont want the stock usable, or just edit the attack/next attack so they can never fire it.
