im not new to running servers or amxmodx and other mods but i was just wondering how much slots i can run for my server with out getting lag from people although so far i have 13 slots with 1 hltv public some people still complain about lag but not a lot most people complain about the register of the server but then again some people say its good.

i run my server off my computer(i only have 1 so far but im going to buy a new one)

Computer/Internet:
Pentium 4
512 MB ram
120gb space
667 kbps upload speed
3.31 mbps download speed
I also have a website for fast downloads for the server
my server has 250 - 500 fps i keep changing the ticrate from 500 - 1000 but mostly keep it at 500
and i fixed my server rates

and also i would a plugin if there is one that changes the server rates not client rates

That doesn't tell us much.

As for the ticrate, if people complain about lag you might want to keep it low, like between 250 and 500. It's hard to find a balance between lag and hitreg, but more people notice lag than poor hitreg. Keep an eye on the CPU usage and try to keep it below 80% so spikes won't cause noticeable lag. Also keep your background processes to a minimum.

But whatever you try, listenservers are known for their poor performance.

my cpu usage of my computer actually stays low it mostly around 0 - 35 %
but for the sys ticrate what is a good one for it? in between 250-500? and also do you know anyway of fixing the server reg? because i know a lot of people complain about it

If the CPU usage is that low you could turn up the sys_ticrate, since people are not experiencing lag caused by lack of CPU time. As for hitreg, this is determined by high server fps and high rates on clients. It's hard to find good minimums, since everyone's connection and hardware setup is different. And high minimums will cause players to lag. It's just a matter of trial and error.

well im was looking for this plugin that was posted on here that would change the server rates from time to time due to how much people are in the server but i cant find it anymore and i changed my ticrate to 300 and it has the same fps as 500 so its okay but also when i have my ticrate to 1000 i still have low cpu usage

try to limit up to 333 fps,
sometimes it will run better,
try to close al apps that using cpu/internet,
also webserver ofcourse..

dedicated i got the hldsupdatettool.exe
