My minecraft fps is capped at 40, I used to get 120+ frames but one day my friend told me to install fabric and get some mods so we can play but when i loaded mc up my fps was capped at 40 and now i when i try normal optifine it still caps at 40 but before it dint. I feel its something to do with my nvidia but i have watched many youtube tutorials and i have not fixed it yet. If anyone knows how to fix it please tell meidm me if you know the fix or just respond to this post

Try removing whole %appdata%\.minecraft folder.
This could potentially resolve the issue.

Open Minecraft
Open Settings
Select Video
Make Max Framerate -> Maximum
Make Graphics -> Fast
Make Render Distance like 2-5 chunks
