It only happens in CS:S, not even in CS:GO.
Tried both the latest 416.34 nvidia drivers and also an older one (388.13), but that hasn't solved the problem... Reinstalled windows 10, still not fixed. I have an MSI gaming 6g gtx 980 ti... it could be the graphics card, as this didn't happen with my old gtx 970, but I don't think it is, since the problem started sometime after I've started using the 980 ti, and not right away.

A fault which doesn't manifest in any other game, but CS:S?
(It doesn't happen in Battlefield 3, 4 & 1, Ballistic overkill)
Not even in CS:GO which runs on the same engine?
I kind of doubt it, but ok.
Any other ideas?

is your graphics card overclocked? I had these similar issues in some games but not others when i pushed the memory clock a bit too high, it was stable in almost all games except had issues like this in some.

Not oc'd, just raised power and temp limits, but I'll look into that! Thanks for the advice!

Ah guys, nevermind... tried resetting the settings in afterburner, and even downclocking both the core and the memory...to no avail.
Swapped the card out for an old GT 430 and the problem was gone. Seems like I'm getting a new GPU.

I've had a faulty GPU before. Take it in for a replacement.

Also try another port on the MOBO as sometimes this is the problem.

I will try another port just to be sure, but I plugged the GT 430 into the same port as my faulty 980 Ti and I didn't have the problem while using it.
