Here is some info about this.

There are 1 cvar, mm_insane 1 <- if this on, the CPU will load about 50%, but you will have about 2-10k FPS.
When the CPU loads till about 75-100%, your server will get choke, and it will lag!
The new mmtimer version (1.6) has mm_insane 2 <- this cvar helps if you have 2 or more servers, it will give you more stable FPS.

So, better turn off your boosters, HL Boosters etc. and give it a try, dont forget to write down the sys_ticrate 10000 in server.cfg

If you are using booster with mmtimer, you wont get more than 512 FPS!

i use the source code to made a source version, see page 4, and it testing in my css windows server. it work fine, but there are some problem with bot
may be i can release a mm:s version tomorrow
