They stopped firing item_found to servers for purchases a while back as it was causing abuse towards players.
Well that explains the absence of trialling/purchasing stuff. Damn.
How exactly was it being abused? Wondering if I should toss Valve another quick email and see if they'd consider re-enabling it for drop logging purposes. It's funny too because purchasing from the Market is still fired by item_found and picked up by the logger.
