where does steamcmd on linux download server files?

so i just installed ubuntu on a virtual box so i can download hlds linux and everything is working fine but i can not find the downloaded server files anywhere on the system .... i just did

force_install_dir hlds

and then app_update 90 validate

and server downloads fine but i cant fine the files anywhere ....
stupid question i know but anyone knows where they are lol

you need to specify a full file path. /home/user/hlds/ for example.

I think if nothing is specified, it just installs into the home directory.

If you just use the path hlds it will install it relative to the base dir of steamcmd
If you installed steamcmd with "apt-get install steamcmd" you will find the hlds files in ~/.steam/steamcmd/hlds
Better to use full path like /home/yourusername/hldsorwhateveryouwanttoputit
