I'm all about C++/C but I've been needing an excuse to learn perl for quite some time and this would be a good one.

As a "programmer" who never made it past Visual Basic and jumped into PHP, I would suggest going w/ something like Javascript.

why?

Because it's (from my knowledge of the sort) very user friendly. Now, I'd usually suggest against it just becasue we dont need little kids who learn how to write "Hello World" in java to start making pointless plugins, it will also open up the support we all know and love.

My vote, Javascript.
