maybe someone who doesn't know SourceMod see the prefix"sm_"
he will think that it is"StatsMe"

so,i don't think sm_ is so good
yes,it's brief
but not clear

That's not a major problem. The stats engine in sourcemod could be called "SourceMod Stats", or sms_ as a prefix. The ingame message command prefix, of course, would have to be named smsm_, to avoid confusion with the popular Short Message Service.

StatsMe

I do believe didnt have any "sm_" command prefixes that I can remember when I used StatsMe.

It wouldnt really matter anyways UA announced that StatsMe is no longer being developed and is in its final version. Soo there is no StatsMe for CS Source.

Speaking of which, doesnt Source have built in console stat messages now?

I really dont want to be typing out sourcemod_ every time I use a command.
And why are we worrying about stuff under HL1, when this is for HL2?

Lol then someone won't be happy it isn't static. You can win a battle but you will never win the war.

One more vote for sm_
short and easy to type
clear due to statsme being final and not in hl2

now what about the variables??
sm_var_
smv_

i think it would be easier to have all variables be one prefix, and all processes / commands another

I agree with one thing. I believe SourceMod should set standards for all to follow. I know this brings up the debate between Bail & Ryan about Hungarian based coding standards, but a standardized hueristic regarding proper coding ethics/habits will prevent many headaches in the long haul. This is especially true for you Admins trying to clarify to new members why their shit just ain't working.

I vote for sm_ mainly because it offers the coder to visually catch a variable 'at-a-glance'. Anyone whose coded anything in any language knows that every now and then, you'll be forced to open notepad, or any other text editor, to find your error... be it syntax, a tag mismatch, or whatever.

A cleaner code provides one thing more important than most realize, a quicker 'user-handled' debugging session.
