As the title states, when using TE_SetupBeamPoints, if you pass a value less than 0.1 (seconds) for the beam life parameter, then it simply becomes a permanent beam on the client side.

Is there any way around this? Does SM just not work with floats <0.1 when it comes to tempents?

On l4d setting the tickrate higher stops this.

Unsure about other games just dont set lower than 0.1

SM basically doesn't do anything for tempents but write the data you give it. You can check the sdktools include for the tempent stocks to see what they set.

Whatever you see is going to be what the game/client decides to do given your specific values.

Looking at the code for sourcemod and for source engine I cannot find anywhere that clamps the float.
