Did you use the app_set_config command before you used app_update?
app_set_config 90 mod cstrike then you use app_update 90.

Same problem as mine too (windows OS), i download new steamcmd from https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD and follow step by step from it page but still has missing files.

My steps:
1. login anonymous
2. force_install_dir ./6153/
3. app_update 90 validate

Both valve and cstrike are included with the base appid 90 even without an app_set_config.

You should have to do app_update 90 two times bcz of steam app bugs

On SteamCMD wiki, it says clearly:

Bug: HLDS (appid 90) currently requires multiple runs of the app_update command before all the required files are successfully installed. Simply run app_update 90 validate multiple times until no more updates take place

Yup you are right, i need to use app_update 90 two times.

But when i use app_update 90 validate it will delete many files from cstrike and valve folders. And then console said Application fully updated lol. There must be something wrong with validate cmd i think.

Ok next question is this build 6153 same as beta 6153? because when i use -beta beta cmd console said Application fully updated too.

Bloody hell with steamcmd nowdays, making my job more complicated.
