Does someone like to form a team for a bigger SourceMod scripting project? I know it's a little bit early, but I think when more scripting details (doc) are relaesed we have a team and can start scripting. While waiting we have time to plan.

I thought about something like a new Warcraft conversation or something like that. My prefered scripting language is C/C++, because it's the most common language.

Please excuse my rusty english.

I'm interested in joining or forming a team, however I have next to no skill in programing any sort of language. The only thing I've used was the old AutoIt (I know, shhh...).. If you're willing to point me in some positive directions on programing and coding, I would be thrilled to learn and start a team with you.

I think the scripting docu will show you the specifics for SourceMod about the language. The best way to learn the language is reading tuts oder buy a book, but the most important thing is learning by doing.

Blaubaer and I are currently working on the documentation of the JavaScript functionality for SourceMod.

Hopefully something will be available soon - we just don't want to post doc before we're sure of it.

No problem.

If I was to go buy a book to get "into" programing/scripting - what should I buy?

@BAILOPAN
Will there be a docu for the c dll, too?

@sYs73m
I cannot recommend any book to you, because the books that i have read only available in german. But buy a beginner book about C++.

PS: I found something on amazon, which is maybe helpfull:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846

The game programming part isn't important!

The C++ documentation will be available via doxygen... that's actually available now but not everything's fully doc'd yet.

If you're not too concerned about legal rights concerning ebooks,
then there's a lot of good ones available for download via share-networks...

I think it's a great initiative to start a group to write additional plugins for Sourcemod,
with great potential as all development for plugins at the moment isn't the developers
main concern (rightfully).

Though my experience in any language is only limited, I do know my way around a lot
of different languages, so I hope to be able to write some add-ons for webpages,
based upon the interface Sourcemod will provide towards both the server & SQL.

As I'm now learning both C & C++ beyond the basics, I hope to be able to start writing
plugins in the future aswell, so if any interesting ideas pop-up I'll be happy to try and
develop those, and in time maybe join a development group to try and develop
plugins that go further than the basic plugins released already...

Best regards,
Tim

Tim - I'll try to get in touch with you soon. I'm going to make an extension off of my current website for a development team to make plugins for SourceMod. If you're interested, which it seems you are, you should join. Even if you're not ready to make full fledge plugins (Hell, I'm buying a book tonight to teach me...) it doesn't matter, we'll learn together and then make them. =)

Let me know if you're interested..

Maybe you can create a new phpBB on your Website and I can join. Then we are 3.

We can plan a project and can start scripting as soon as possible.
