Well i just got a tf2 server running off of my clans dedicated box. I installed MM and sourcemod and whenever i try to connect to my server it kicks me with this error "server uses different class table" so i googled it and it seems that the server needs to update. do i need to tell it to update with a command or does it do it automatically

You need to update it with the hlds update tool. If you dont know that then I dont think its time to start a server by yourself.

Open up command prompt (ctrl + r then type cmd).

Type:

Code:
cd c:\srcds
(or where ever the installation directory is located)

Then:

Code:
hldsupdatetool -command update -game tf -dir .
Tada!

- I'm guessing this is on Windows

Who hosts your server?

Some of them automatically update when you restart the server.

Not many, only ones that use linux and have it in their command line.

hlds is the actual server, and you cant execute stuff with FTP. You want to run hlsdupdatetool.exe and update your server using CMD or a simple bat.
