Why would you put anything on the desktop to begin with? The only logical reason to do such a thing is to take a screenshot IMO (but that's just me). There are folders for a reason.

because the desktop is my workbench
when I work on something especially a website or a server I use filezilla and I drag and drop the files
that's why you can see the same sprite 10 times for example
